44th Ward CPS/Netsync Fiber Construction Notice

NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IN YOUR AREA

Netsync Fiber will be installing new underground conduit facilities and fiber optic cables and associated materials in the 44th Ward Area. Work will take place in the coming weeks starting Tuesday, June 1, 2021. These improvements will be to provide high speed internet and data capabilities for The Chicago Public Schools.

Type of Construction: The fiber optic cables will be installed underground within the Public Right of Ways via open cut trenching and directional boring. Following the underground conduit installation, fiber placement and splicing will be performed to complete the project. If pedestrian or vehicle traffic needs to be altered to accommodate construction activities, barriers and signage will be utilized to ensure the safety of all in the area. Any disturbed areas will receive immediate temporary restoration with permanent restoration to previous or better condition to be performed later as coordinated with The City of Chicago.

Impacted Areas:

  • N Fremont Street from W. Addison Street to W. Cornelia Avenue, east on Cornelia Avenue to the alley east of N. Reta Avenue, south in the alley from W. Cornelia Avenue to W. Buckingham Place.
    • No Parking signage will be posted along the following address ranges and will be in affect during construction hours:
      • 840-901 W. Addison Street
      • 3500-3611 N. Fremont Street
      • 805-900 W. Cornelia Avenue
      • 3500-3513 N. Reta Avenue
      • 805-822 W. Newport Avenue
      • 804-822 W. Roscoe Street
      • 800-823 W. Buckingham Place

  • N Halsted Street from W. Aldine Avenue south to the alley south of W. Melrose Street, east in the alley to N. Broadway Street, north on N. Broadway Street to W. Melrose Street
    • No Parking signage will be posted along the following address ranges and will be in affect during construction hours:
      • 800-811 W. Aldine Avenue
      • 3209-3300 N. Halsted Street
      • 3209-3240 N. Broadway

  • W Wolfram Street at the alley west of N. Sheffield Avenue, south and then west in the alley to N. Seminary Avenue, south on N. Seminary Avenue to W. Diversey Parkway, east on W. Diversey Parkway and then south on N. Seminary Avenue to the alley south of W. Diversey Parkway, east in the alley to N. Kenmore Avenue, south on N. Kenmore Avenue to the alley north of N. Lincoln Avenue

ENJOY EXPANDED OUTDOOR DINING ON SOUTHPORT AVE FROM WAVELAND TO GRACE ON SELECT WEEKENDS THIS SUMMER.

Dine Out on Southport takes place on Fridays – Sundays on the below weekends.

Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce

25+ restaurants and food establishments along Broadway from Belmont to Wellington will participate, and several restaurants on Sheffield north of Belmont will, as well. Sidewalk patios will be extended into the street, and there will be a few communal tables set up on Broadway for those who would like to do carry-out. 

All social distancing, face covering, and other guidelines will be followed. The 36 Bus on Broadway will be rerouted (check the CTA website for updates) and Barry, Oakdale, and Briar will become two way streets.

Aggravated Robbery on 500 Block of Hawthorne

Community Alert

On May 14th, 2021, at approximately 8:30am, a woman was walking with her child westbound on the 500 block of Hawthorne, when an offender attacked the woman with a pipe and stole her purse. The offender then fled the scene. Medical attention and police were called to the scene. The woman is being treated for serious injuries of Illinois Masonic. The case is being treated as an Aggravated Robbery.
Offender’s description:
Male, Black. Approx. 6′ to 6’2″, wearing a black hoodie with grey sweatpants. The offender’s hairstyle is long dreads.

What you can do:

Always be aware of your surroundings.
Pay special attention to suspicious people loitering in the area and report them to the police.
If confronted by an offender, remain calm.
Remember any unique descriptive characteristics of offenders (Scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.).
Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to police.
Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender.
