Sawcutting of whole alley – 8/21/ 24 to 8/23/24. (COMPLETE)
Demo / Removal
- North/South alley by N. Halsted AND East/West alley – 8/26 to 9/6
- Concrete pour for Halsted and East/West section: 9/9 to 9/13
- North/South alley by N. Clark – 9/16 to 9/20
- Concrete pour for Clark section: 9/23 to 9/24
Framing and pouring concrete for Alley and Garage aprons
- North/South alley by N. Halsted and East/West alley – 9/23 to 9/24
- North/South alley by N. Clark – 9/30 to 10/2
Clean up, alley turn over, and project end (topsoil backfilling and hydro-seeding) – 10/4
As part of the Chicago Department of Transportation’s Capitol Alley Program, construction is tentatively scheduled to begin August 26th on both the North/South and East/West section of the alley bordered by N. Clark, W. Roscoe, N. Halsted and W. Buckingham. Preliminary sawcutting will begin on August 21st, starting at the North/South alley by N. Halsted, then moving to the East/West alley between W. Roscoe and W. Buckingham, then to the North/ South alley by N. Clark
During the week of August 26th, construction will begin and access to garages will be restricted for the dates listed above until concrete is poured.
The current asphalt alley will be replaced with more durable concrete. Due to this alley being a full reconstruction, work is tentatively set to be completed October 2024.
Please be aware of noise in the neighborhood due to construction. In accordance with the Chicago Municipal Code, the Public Building Commission (PBC) is granting permission to the Contractor to begin the workday at 6:00AM and to end the workday at 7:00PM,Monday through Friday; 8:00AM to 5:00PM on Saturdays (if needed); and 9:00AM to 5:00PM on Sundays (if needed) for the duration of the Project.
