Artificial Turf Field at Diversey
Update: The contractor has begun mobilizing this week with construction fence installation, utility locations, survey/layout, tree removals, and equipment delivery to the site. Next week we should see earthwork begin. The project includes both the Diversey Turf Field and the drainage issues in the area north of the driving range. Weather permitting, the project should be complete by early summer, 2021.
The Chicago Park District, in partnership with Chicago Public Schools, is bringing an artificial turf athletic field and improved natural area and picnic lawn located in Lincoln Park between Barry and Diversey, just west of Outer Lake Shore Drive. The field will be used to host practices for Lincoln Park High School and Lakeview High School sports, and will also be available for recreational use by the community.
Wellington & Lake Shore Drive Storm Water Management
The plan features a full-size, multi-purpose athletic field, field lighting, minimally sized bleachers, and easy access to parking at the existing parking lot. The project also includes storm water management improvements throughout the site. These improvements will help to minimize flooding and improve conditions for picnicking and other recreational use of the site by the community.
