Diversey Water Main Replacement (43rd Ward)

Update 3.21.2018: NPL crews have begun preparing the site for the water main installation, including the location and marking of other utility services. You will notice construction equipment and materials placed in your area. The project will consist of several phases over the coming weeks.
Project: Department of Water Management (DWM) and NPL Construction Company crews will be installing approximately 1,265 feet of new 12‐inch water main in W. Diversey Parkway, from N. Halsted Street to N. Clark Street.
Reason: The old water main dates back to 1890, and needs to be replaced.
Traffic: When working in the street, crews maintain one lane in each direction between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for safety reasons but you will always be able to reach your home or business. Outside of working hours, travel lanes will be left open for local traffic only.
Parking: Crews will post the work area for “No Parking” as needed, block by block, during work hours (7am- 4pm) Monday through Friday.
We are agreeable to parking outside of those hours, but will have to insist that cars be moved by the start of the next workday. We will try to preserve as much parking as possible.
Can I park when crews are not working? We have no problem with you parking outside of working hours. We have to insist that cars be out of the work zone at the start of the workday.
We know that construction always involves inconveniences and noise. We will do everything possible to maintain your quality of life throughout this project. Crews will conduct themselves as good and thoughtful neighbors in the course of their presence on your street.
