CLVN – Central Lake View NeighborsImage result for central lake view neighbors

President: Diann Marsalek

The boundries for the CLVN branch of the LVCC are Belmont to the north, Halsted to the east, Racine to west and Diversey to the south. Central Lake View Neighbors (CLVN) is a community organization within the Lakeview Citizens’ Council, bordered by Belmont to the north, Halsted to the east, Racine to the west, and Diversey to the south. CLVN fosters local involvement through year-round events and volunteer opportunities. Signature activities include participating in Chicago’s Clean and Green spring cleanup, hosting annual wine tastings and flower/plant sales to fund beautification efforts, and co-sponsoring summer movie nights at Hawthorne School. Volunteers also help maintain garden corners during warmer months, and in the fall, CLVN supports local schools by donating items to Harriet Tubman IB School’s Halloween Party. The year typically wraps up with a festive holiday celebration for neighbors. CLVN collaborates with organizations like the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Park District, 19th District Police Department, and Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital to address local issues such as zoning changes and improve community life. Additionally, CLVN’s neighborhood meetings are scheduled immediately after the local police beat meetings, making it convenient for residents to attend both on the same evening. SNA – Southport Neighbors Association

President: Kay Manger-Hague

The Southport Neighbors Association (SNA) serves the area from Addison Street north to Irving Park Road, and from Clark Street west to east of Ashland Avenue. SNA is dedicated to helping neighbors connect with one another, engage with broader issues affecting the community (e.g., zoning applications), and work together to improve the neighborhood. Since July 2018, SNA has hosted the annual Southport Art Fest (previously known as “Summer on Southport”). This vibrant event not only showcases over 100 local and national artists but also strengthens community ties and raises funds to support SNA’s ongoing and future initiatives. In addition, SNA organizes an annual Native Plant Sale featuring a variety of flowers, ferns, and sedges specifically chosen for their compatibility with the local ecosystem and their value to pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. The sale empowers Lakeview residents to enhance their surroundings with native plants and to adopt and plant Corner Plots on their streets.
