A development project has been proposed at 749 W. Briar Place (the Briar Street Theater) that includes a request for a zoning change from B3-2 to B2-5 to accommodate a mixed-use building. The proposal preserves the existing Briar Street Theater building and adds three stories of residential space above, as well as an addition on the southern side of the building, resulting in a 64-foot-tall structure with 66 total residential units. The first floor will maintain a corner commercial space, and 14 interior parking spaces and 58 bike rack spaces for residents. Additional amenities include a rooftop deck.
