Block Parties

Neighborhood Block Parties are great fun and a terrific way to strengthen our community through social interaction!

Enclosed you will find the following forms:

- Application for a Permit to Hold a Block Party
- Chicago Fire Department Fire Truck/Engine Request Form
- Petition for first-time Block Parties

If this is the first time your block has held a party, we ask that you circulate a petition among your neighbors demonstrating support for the event. Once the petition is complete, please return it our office with your completed Block Party Permit Application. If you have held a block party in the past you need not complete the petition unless there are outstanding issues from previous years that need to be addressed (per the Alderman).

We ask that Block Parties not be held during Cubs or Festival weekends whenever possible - especially for those blocks in close proximity to Wrigley Field and festival grounds. Schedules can be obtained at http://www.cubs.com/.

Please return the completed permit application and petition (if necessary) to Erin Duffy in the 44th Ward Office.  You can drop it off to our office (1057 W. Belmont), fax it to 773.525.5058 or email a scanned copy to ward44@cityofchicago.org

Our office will work with the Department of Streets and Sanitation to provide "No Parking" signs and towing (if needed). It is helpful to your neighbors if organizers flyer cars on your block in advance of the party.

Send the completed Fire Department Request directly to the Chicago Fire Department Special Events Department. It is helpful if you can include a copy of this request with the permit application you submit to the 44th Ward Office.

The City's Jumping Jack program is available on Saturdays and Sundays only through May 25, 2013 - September 1, 2013.  Jumping Jack forms can be downloaded by clicking the PDF below.   Please submit the form to the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) via email at dcase@cityofchicago.org or fax at 312-744-8523. That office will contact organizers directly in regard to their availability.  Approved block parties will receive an inflatable for four (4) hours between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm on the scheduled day.
