Residential Move “No Parking/Tow Zone” Signage (Enforceable)
Enforceable signs can only be applied for by licensed and bonded moving companies through the Chicago Department of Transportation’s Online Permit Portal. Applications must be submitted at least a week and a half prior to the moving date to allow for review, processing and issuance of the permit. Moving companies must select to have Enforceable “No Parking/Tow Zone” signs posted by CDOT during the online application process.
If you have additional questions regarding Enforceable “No Parking/Tow Zone” signage and the Moving Truck permitting process, please contact CDOT’s Permit Office at (312)744-4562.
Residential Move “No Parking” Signage (Non-Enforceable)
Residents moving in or out can pick up complimentary, Non-Enforceable, no-parking moving signs from our office for no charge. The date and hours of the move will be written on the paper signs and then the residents should post them using string or, in the event of rain, plastic wrap on nearby trees and/or light poles adjacent to the section where the moving truck will be parked for loading & unloading. These moving signs should be posted 48 to 72 hours prior to the moving date.
Please email your request to our office us at Ward44@cityofchicago.org.
