N Clark St. Resurfacing Project

Dear Neighbors:

I am providing you with information regarding an arterial street resurfacing project in our neighborhood. This is part of our approach to renew our city's aging infrastructure. I want to be certain you are well informed about the project. You should know where to call if you have any questions or concerns.

Chicago Department of Transportation crews will soon be resurfacing N. Clark St. from Diversey to Addison. Furthermore, concrete crews will replace broken curb, gutter and non-ADA compliant sidewalk ramps. This project is expected to commence Thursday, October 4, 2012 (weather permitting).

We are coordinating with the Department of Transportation, and I have made it clear that crews need to put great importance on your convenience and the quality of life in this neighborhood throughout the duration of this project.

As you know, construction always involves some inconvenience, noise and dust. The Department of Transportation will do everything possible to minimize the inconvenience and noise, and will conduct themselves as good and thoughtful neighbors throughout the course of their work.

Project Schedule (weather permitting):


· 10/02 to 10/05 crews will grind (remove) the existing pavement on N Clark St. from Diversey to Addison. We anticipate that the grinding crew will remove approximately 3-4 blocks of existing pavement per day, 1 - 2 lane(s) cycles. N Clark will remain open for thru traffic throughout the duration of the project.

· 10/08 to 10/09 crews will remove and replace new curb & gutter where needed (broken curbs)

· 10/11 to 10/15 crews will pave N Clark St. from Diversey to Addison. We anticipate that the asphalt crew will complete approximately 3-4 blocks a day, 1 - 2 lane(s) cycles. We will maintain 2-3 lanes of thru traffic at all times

· 10/15 to 11/01 crews will install concrete bus pads at all bus stops that fall between Diversey to Addison
