N Clark/N Halsted/W Barry/W Fletcher Sewer Main Project

Dear Neighbors:

I am providing you with information regarding a sewer main construction project in our neighborhood. This is part of our approach to renewing our city's aging infrastructure. I want to be certain you are well informed about the project. You should know where to call if you have any questions or concerns. Crews will begin mobilizing 9/20/12

Water Management crews will soon be soon install a new sewer in N. Halsted Street (W. Wellington Ave. to W. Barry Ave.), in N. Clark Street (W. Barry Ave. to W. Fletcher Ave.), in W. Fletcher Ave. (N. Clark St. to 161' West) and in W. Barry Ave.( N. Clark St. to 346' West). The old pipe dates back to 1886, and needs to be replaced

We are coordinating with the Department of Water Management, and I have made clear that crews are to put great importance on your convenience and the quality of life in this neighborhood through the whole term of this project.

As you know, construction always involves some inconvenience, noise, and dust. Water Management will do everything possible to minimize the inconvenience and noise, and to conduct themselves as good and thoughtful neighbors through the course of their work.

Project Details:

The Department of Water Management will soon (next week or 2) begin installing a new sewer main in N Halsted (W Wellington to W Barry), N Clark (W Barry to w Fletcher), W. Fletcher Ave. (N. Clark St. to 161' West) and in W. Barry Ave.( N. Clark St. to 346' West). The project is expected to end mid-November.

TRAFFIC

During construction in the interest of public safety, Halsted & Clark Street will be closed to through traffic and traffic will be detoured. The traffic configurations will change throughout the project so you are encouraged to pay close attention to the message boards posted.

STAGE 1 - Effective 9/20/12 to 10/30/12
Full continuous closure of all southbound lanes of N Halsted St. between W Wellington and W Barry. Southbound Halsted traffic will be detoured via N Sheffield from W Belmont to W Diversey. Crews will maintain one lane of northbound traffic in the northbound curb lane.

STAGE 2 - Effective 9/24/12 to 10/02/12
Full continuous closure of W Wellington from N Halsted to N Dayton. Westbound Wellington traffic will be detoured via W Oakdale. Parking restrictions will be posted on N Mildred from W Oakdale to W Wellington to allow ambulances to access the hospital.

STAGE 3 - Effective 10/16/12 to 11/17/12
Full continuous closure of all southbound lanes of N. Clark St. from W. Barry to W Fletcher. Southbound Clark traffic will be detoured via N. Sheffield from W. Belmont to W. Diversey. Crews will maintain one lane of northbound traffic in the northbound curb lane

PARKING

Water Management will post work areas for No Parking as needed, during work hours (7am-4pm, M-F). We will preserve as much parking as possible, but since sewers run down the center of the street, we may have closures to ?through traffic?. You will always have access to your proper
